Don’t waste your time dating a guy for five years – Toke Makinwa

Published

on

Toke Makinwa

Speaking in her new Vlog, she said that it’s a waste of meaningful time dating a guy for five years. Toke, who is divorced from her ex-husband, Maje Ayide, said she is speaking from experience as she has previously been in a long-term relationship.

She said that having a long-term relationship doesn’t mean that a couple would have a happy married life if they decide they want to get married.

She said, “I do not understand why you should date someone for more than two and a half years. That is my take. I feel like if you meet someone, two years is decent, two and half years is decent. By three years, its like ‘what again are you’re trying to find out’.

“What didn’t you find out in the first and second year? I feel like 5 years is taking the piece and for seven years, you are absolutely having a laugh. By 10 years, it’s like ”are you the lord of the rings?

“I can say this because I have been in a long-term relationship, so I can tell you how I feel about it. My answer is “no” because I feel like often times, long courtships do not translate to a happy marriage. Sometimes you find people who date forever. When they get married, they don’t make it past that year or two or three years.

You find people who get married in a year and a half. 10 years down the line, they are still together. When people show you who they are, you have to believe them. If you find yourself in a five year, seven years 10 years relationship, it is enough for you to sit back and ask the guy what is going on and where are we going to?

“Why would you want to date someone for seven years? In that seven years, some people have gotten together, gotten married, had children, divorced and you are still this person’s girlfriend. There is nothing that you would not find out in three years that you want to find out in eight years.”

Speaking on Cassie and Diddy’s recent breakup;

Toke said, “Cassie and Diddy everyone is talking about. They dated for eleven years. She was a baby when they met. This was a girl who came out, had an amazing single, very stunning young lady, all of a sudden she started dating Diddy. A lot of people asked questions because we have all known Diddy as a guy who has found it had to commit.

“He has had baby mamas, he was engaged for a very long time. He has never hidden the fact that he is not the commitment type of guy. I have always often wondered why Cassie stayed that long. This is a girl that could have done so much more in the last eleven years than traveling with Diddy, kissing him on Instalive and just being his girlfriend.”

“If you are stuck in a relationship with someone who can empower you and all they would rather see you as is a handbag, girl you should walk away. It seemed like she was more into the relationship than her own self-development. I don’t know her and this is not a judgment against her. People do whatever it is that makes them happy. However, I feel that a lot of people tend to date for a long time, hoping that it would either lead to marriage and sometimes it’s often not the case.”

“And now Diddy is dating a younger girl. I almost cried when I heard it. A 26-year-old girl. Cassie if you ever watch the video, you have to upgrade. You have to go and find a Russian billionaire. You know the type if you don’t like to work, they would keep you in Gucci and Gold for the rest of your life.

Then just hire Diddy to perform at your wedding. Just hire him because you feel like paying him some coins. That is the best revenge you can give to a guy like that.”

NCAA sanctions four airlines

Published

on

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has sanctioned four erring operators for violations. Its spokesman, Sam Adurogboye, who stated this yesterday, did not identify the operators. But, he said they are scheduled and non-scheduled operators.

Adurogboye said infractions by the airlines were discovered during on the spot inspections carried out by NCAA Aviation Safety Inspectors (ASI).

NCAA inspectors, the NCAA spokesman said, found out a number of deficiencies on the airlines, including non-implementation of training programmes of maintenance personnel as required, irregularities concerning helicopter flight identification, deliberate violation of regulations, performing maintenance programme without necessary approval and using outdated manual.

These, he said, were found to be in violation of the civil aviation regulations.

Consequently, the various operators were sanctioned with fines ranging from N1.5 million to N2 million.

One of the operators involved in a deliberate violation of the regulations had its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) suspended for 180 days.

However, he said the authority has ensured that the affected personnel in question in the employment of one of the airlines are trained accordingly.

Adurogboye reassured stakeholders that NCAA would keep ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures [SOPs] are strictly followed.

But, aviation unions – Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) – have vowed to declare a state of emergency in NCAA from tomorrow, if their demands for staff promotion are not met.

The unions stated this at the weekend in Lagos, claiming that the NCAA management has taken them for granted on issues of promotions for the agency’s workers.

Chairman, NCAA Joint Action Committee and NUATE Chairman, NCAA branch Lucky Izebhokun said the agency’s management would be looking for trouble if they do not promote the workers.

The poll has been carried out every year since 1946, with the exception of 1976.

The 1,025 adults surveyed were asked to name the man and woman living anywhere in the world whom they admire the most.

Although Oprah Winfrey has never finished top she has been second on 14 occasions.

If Mr Obama comes top again next year he will tie with the record holder – former president Dwight Eisenhower who won the most admired man title 12 times, Gallup said.

Gallup said the survey, which was carried out between 3-12 December, had a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

China to build 216 new airports

Published

on

China aims to construct 216 new airports by 2035 to meet the growing demands for air travel, reports say.

China had a total of 234 civil airports at the end of October, and this number is likely to hit 450 by 2035. This is part of China’s ambition to become an aviation power, reported People’s Daily, China, quoting Reuters.

Data shows that demand for passenger air transportation in China will surpass the US by 2035, representing almost one-quarter of the world’s total flights.

Airports in China managed 552 million travellers last year, which is expected to grow to 720 million by 2020.

With one billion new passengers and 1.6 billion total passenger traffic in the next two decades, China is set to become the largest driver of the global aviation industry, according to the International Air Transport Association.

With great market potential and the consumption upgrade trend, China is driving development of international aviation in the Asia-Pacific, and the country is expected to maintain its steady growth in the next two decades, surpassing the US to occupy the top spot in the global aviation industry, IATA said.

More than half of new passengers are expected to come from the Asia-Pacific, the report pointed out, thanks to stable economic growth and rising household income.

“Among all the nations in this region, China will become the country with fastest growing aviation market in the next 20 years, due to its prospective one billion new passengers and 1.6 billion total passenger traffic,” the report said.

Driven by China’s expected annual five percent growth, the Asia-Pacific will become an important impetus for international aviation industry.

“China is the most dynamic aviation market in the world, with a prosperous economy and a growing middle-income group, and there is strong potential for the global aviation industry in Asia,” according to Alexandre de Juniac, Director General and CEO of IATA.

“The rapid development of China’s aviation industry is a result of the country’s reform and opening-up, as well as its active participation in the international market,” said Brian Pearce, IATA’s chief economist, who added that China has injected new vitality into the world aviation industry.

The report also predicted that the net profit of the global air transportation industry will reach $35.5bn, with an expected 4.59 billion passengers and 65.9 million tons of cargo volume.

Amina Mohammed, three other Nigerian women made 2018 “100 Women” list

Published

on

Amina Mohammed, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and three other Nigerian women made the 2018 BBC ‘100 women’ list.

She appeared alongside social entrepreneur/activist, Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin, a lawyer, Bola Tinubu and award-winning blogger and author, Chidera Eggerue.

The BBC list celebrates inspiring and influential women who have used their positions to spark actions in the review year.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in 2017, only two Nigerian women – singer, Tiwa Savage, and tech prodigy, Anne-Marie Imafidon – made the list.

This year, the list featured women around the world between the ages of 15 and 94 from more than 60 countries; including Messrs Mohammed, Ajayi-Akinfolarin, Tinubu and Eggerue from Nigeria.

57-year-old Ms. Mohammed, who is vocal about women’s empowerment and gender equality, told BBC that females should not be ‘grateful’ for opportunities given them.

“What I want to do is not apologise for being a girl and not to see it as something that is added on… or that we should be grateful for being at the table,” she said.

Speaking on Ms. Ajayi-Akinfolarin, BBC wrote, “Abisoye is the founder of GirlsCoding, an NGO that teaches girls how to code, design and build websites that help solve problems in their communities.”

The 33-year-old tech entrepreneur, who was recently named one of CNN’s ten heroes of 2018, is a women’s rights activist fighting to balance the gender gap in science and technology.

Meanwhile, the BBC honoured the 51-year-old Ms. Tinubu for her work in corporate law, especially in establishing the first free children’s helpline in Nigeria.

Also, Ms. Eggerue, 27, is a best-selling author and blogger at Slumflower and has been featured in many publications including British Vogue, Elle Uk, The NewYork Times.

NAN reports that Chelsea Clinton, vice-chair of the Clinton Foundation, and Senegalese-born Fatma Samoura, first female FIFA secretary general, were also included in the list.
