Hands-On with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: A Detailed Assessment

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest lineup, the Redmi Note 13 series, in India, featuring the flagship Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G, which we’ve got in for a detailed review.

One of the standout initial impressions is the revamped packaging of Xiaomi’s Redmi devices. Embracing a bold all-red design, this packaging will become the standard look for all upcoming Xiaomi devices.

Inside the package tailored for the Indian market, the typical contents greet users – the phone itself, a charger, cable, and a case. Notably, the previously clear phone case has been replaced with an all-black silicone alternative, addressing concerns about long-term yellowing. However, the case’s design choice includes a sizable opening at the top, which may compromise its durability.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G boasts a 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220. This display impressively supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, offering vivid visuals. With 100% DCI-P3 coverage, 500 nits of standard brightness, and an outstanding peak brightness of 1800 nits, it also provides Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support.

Constructed with a glass back and a plastic frame, this phone stands out due to its IP68 dust and water resistance, ensuring enhanced durability in challenging environments compared to its predecessor.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra processor, an octa-core chip built on the advanced 4nm fabrication process. It includes LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage options in 8+256GB, 12+256GB, and 12+512GB variants.

On the rear, the phone sports a triple-camera setup, headlined by a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor, offering versatile shooting capabilities. Complementing this is an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens, while the front houses a 16MP fixed-focus camera.

Running MIUI 14.0.1 and Android 13 out of the box, this device is set to receive Android 14 and the HyperOS update, making it one of the earliest Xiaomi devices to do so.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is fueled by a robust 5000mAh battery and supports lightning-fast 120W charging. Bundled with the 120W charger in the package, this phone charges from 0 to 100% in an astonishing 19 minutes.

Pricing starts at INR 31,999 for the 8+256GB version, INR 33,999 for the 12+256GB model, and INR 35,999 for the top-tier 12+512GB variant. Available in Fusion Black, Fusion Purple, and Fusion White, this phone promises an exciting blend of features and performance for users.
