Joey Chestnut Beats Kobayashi, Sets New World Record In Netflix Hot Dog Eating Contest

Joey Chestnut mustered up the energy to down a world record 83 hot dogs on Monday, enjoying another victory over rival Takeru Kobayashi, who battled to catch the world’s best competitive eater in Netflix’s “Unfinished Beef” Labor Day showdown.

Following the same format as Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest held in Coney Island, New York, Chestnut and Kobayashi had 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs as possible. According to host Rob Riggle, the production prepared 300 hot dogs in anticipation of the event, streamed live on Netflix from the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas.

Contestants were not allowed to dip or pour water on the hot dogs or separate the beef franks from their buns, with fines imposed for extra crumbs and reconstruction. While Kobayashi only managed to eat 67 hot dogs, Chestnut beat his own world record of 76 in the 2021 Nathan’s competition by 83.
