MLB: Freeman and Ohtani steal the show

Freddie Freeman hit two home runs and drove in five runs, Shohei Ohtani stole three bases and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-6.

Dominican Teoscar Hernandez went 5 for 5 to help Los Angeles win three of four games in a crucial National League West division series between the two rivals. The Dodgers, who have won 17 of their last 23, now have a six-game lead over the D-backs with 24 games to play.

Arizona and San Diego are bidding for second place.

Ohtani showed off his speed as well as had two hits and two walks. He stole second and third base on consecutive pitches in the seventh inning, raising his season total to a career-high 46 stolen bases.

Dodgers right-handed starter Jack Flaherty (4-1) allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings. He allowed five hits, three walks and struck out seven. Venezuela’s Eduardo Rodriguez (2-1) needed 92 pitches to navigate four innings.
